How can I prevent textile wear and fading?

You give your most treasured fabrics the long life they deserve by taking good care of them. Washing as little as possible prevents wear and fading. Enjoy your favorite clothes, bedding, tablecloths, decorative cushions, etc. for longer.

Clothes wear and tear caused by ironing and washing

An iron flattens the fibers of a fabric, causing them to wear out faster. Using a steamer damages fabric fibers much less.

Textiles also don't look better when you wash them (often). Research shows that frequent washing shortens the lifespan of your textile products. This is all to do with soap, heat, tumbling around in the drum, and contact with other clothes. The fibers of fabrics are damaged, and fabrics become thinner and start to pill, colors fade, and clothes lose their shape. The
CEO of Levi's also explains that jeans should actually never be washed, because it's bad for the fabric's fibers, color, and fit. The CEO has even not washed his own jeans in a washing machine for 10 years.

Washing and ironing less is better for the lifespan of your textiles

Of course, you should wash your underwear every day, but after that you can quickly follow Stella McCartney's rule: “If you don't absolutely have to wash it, don't..” For most clothes, putting them in the washing machine is very bad. The fabrics lose their shape, the colors change, and the clothes wear out quickly. What's more, there's no need to wash clothes/textiles every time. If something gets stained, you can simply wash the affected area.

Use a handheld steamer

The specially designed pattern on the metal plate of the STEAM'R, combined with the warm steam, lifts the textile fibers without damaging them. This process is similar to the natural drying process in the open air. As you can imagine, this is much gentler on the fibers of delicate fabrics than, for example, using a hot, pressing iron. Using a handheld steamer is also super quick! Believe us, it really is a lifesaver for your busy life, helping you always look polished and fresh, without wrinkled clothes, in no time!
