A garment steamer heats water into hot steam. The steam relaxes the fibres of your clothes, so creases disappear while the garment simply hangs on a hanger. No ironing board needed, and no hot soleplate pressing on the fabric.

For most everyday clothing, yes. You steam faster, without an ironing board, and because no hot soleplate presses on the fabric you get no shiny marks or scorch marks, even on delicate fabrics. For a sharp crease in trousers an iron is still handy.

It depends on how much and where you steam. A handheld steamer is compact and ideal for one or two outfits a day. An upright steamer like the Professional is made for long sessions, lots of clothes or curtains. The Travel is light and foldable for on the go. Not sure? Try our product finder.

Almost all fabrics, including delicates such as silk, satin, cashmere and wool. Only leather, suede and velour are not suitable. Read more about steaming delicate fabrics.

Yes. Steam at 100°C refreshes your clothes and helps reduce odours, so you can wear a garment more often before it needs a wash. That is better for your clothes, saves washes and makes your clothes last longer.

If you live in a soft water area, regular tap water is fine. With hard, limescale-rich water we recommend distilled, deionised or filtered water. Never put laundry perfume, scented ironing water, essential oils or cleaning products in the tank. Read more about which water to use.

Often the cause is simple. Check that there is enough water in the tank, that the tank is properly attached and that the steamer has fully heated up. Still not working? Follow our no-steam checklist or contact us.
