Garment steamer produces no steam? Here's what you can do
Is your garment steamer suddenly producing less steam, producing no steam at all, no longer produces steam or the appliance does not seem to be working properly? Don't worry: in many cases, the cause is easy to identify.
An empty or improperly installed water tank, insufficient heating time or an interrupted water supply can, for example, already cause little or no steam comes out of your garment steamer.
In this guide, we go through the most common causes step by step. We also explain what you can do if your garment steamer sputters, water leaks, makes an unusual noise, or produces less powerful steam than usual.
Is there enough water, is the rubber seal closed, and is the tank fully inserted into the garment steamer?
Turn on the garment steamer and wait until it is fully up to temperature before using the steam button.
Then go through the checks below. Hard water, dry use or a technical problem may also be involved.
My garment steamer produces no steam
When no steam comes out of your garment steamer at all, this does not immediately mean that the appliance is defective. First check the following points in this order.
Is there enough water in the tank?
First check the water level. If there is too little or no water there is water in the tank, the garment steamer obviously cannot produce steam again.
Fill the tank with suitable water and then place it fully back into the garment steamer.
Is the rubber seal properly closed?
Check the rubber seal on the water tank. It must be fully and correctly closed.
If the seal is not fitted properly, the tank may leak or the water supply to the appliance may be disrupted.
Is the water tank fully inserted into the garment steamer?
Remove the tank from the garment steamer and reinstall it. Make sure the tank is firmly and fully connected to the appliance.
There should not be a noticeable gap between the water tank and the housing of the garment steamer should be visible.
Is the garment steamer fully heated?
Turn on the garment steamer and give the appliance enough time to reach full temperature.
Wait until the indicator light shows that the garment steamer is ready for use, and only then press the steam button.
Hold the steam button down for a few seconds
Sometimes the water supply needs to start flowing again, for example when the garment steamer has just been filled or has not been used for a while.
Is the appliance fully up to temperature? Then hold the steam button for a few seconds and check whether steam production starts.
Check the power supply
Check that the plug is fully inserted into the power outlet. Try another power outlet if necessary to rule out that the problem with the power supply.

My garment steamer produces less steam than usual
Does the garment steamer still work, but are you clearly noticing less steam is coming out than before? First check the water level again, the position of the reservoir and whether the appliance is fully heated.
Have you used the garment steamer with hard, limescale-rich tap water for an extended period? used tap water? Mineral deposits may be a possible cause. Minerals from the water can build up in the internal water system and eventually obstruct the water or steam flow.

Is water coming from the steam openings along with steam? First check or that the garment steamer is fully heated before using the steam button.
Also check what has been used in the water reservoir. Products or additives in the water can affect the operation of the internal affect the steam system and cause sputtering or residue.

Is water still clearly coming from the steam head or another part of the housing while the appliance is fully heated? Stop using it and contact STEAMRS.
My garment steamer is leaking water
First try to determine where the water is coming from. A leaking water reservoir is often caused by something other than water coming from the steam head or housing.
Water around the reservoir
Check that the rubber seal is fully closed and that the reservoir is firmly and correctly inserted into the garment steamer.
Also check that there is no visible gap between the reservoir and the appliance.
Water coming from the steam head or housing
Is water consistently coming out of the steam head or another part of the housing? That is not normal during use.
Switch off the garment steamer, unplug it from the power socket and contact STEAMRS.
My garment steamer is making a strange noise
Do you hear a bubbling, ticking or heating sound while it is warming up? That does not automatically mean that there is something wrong with your garment steamer.
During use, water is heated internally and converted into steam. The heating system can be audible. Especially during when heating up or when new water is supplied, the appliance may therefore make noise.
Does the sound suddenly change significantly, and do you also notice that it garment steamer no longer heats up properly, produces no steam or leaks water? Then contact STEAMRS.
Have you used anything other than water?
Do not add perfume, oil, detergent or other products to the water reservoir of your garment steamer. Such additives can leave residue during heating and affect the operation of the internal water system affect its operation.
Did you accidentally put another product in the reservoir after all? Do not use the garment steamer on clothes again until the reservoir has been emptied and thoroughly rinsed with clean water.
Fabric perfume does not belong in your garment steamer
Would you like to give your clothes a pleasant fragrance? Use a product intended for that purpose laundry or clothing product according to the product's instructions, but add do not add it to the garment steamer's water reservoir.
My garment steamer still does not work
Have you performed all the checks above and is there still no or hardly any steam from your garment steamer? There may be another technical cause.
