How exactly do dryer balls work in the dryer?

1. More warm air circulation
To dry properly, the laundry you put in the dryer needs to be separated so warm air can circulate. The laundry balls essentially fluff up the laundry, allowing it to move more freely around the dryer drum. So, if dryer balls remain between the fabrics during the drying process, warm air can flow between the garments much faster, allowing the laundry to dry considerably faster and the dryer to run for less time. 

2. Wool softens fibers & removes static charge
The reason wool dryer balls can replace fabric softener is due to the way the balls interact with the fibers in linens and clothing. The wool balls gently move the fibers, making the clothes feel softer when they dry. 

In addition, the laundry is less static and comes out of the wash less wrinkled! 
However, if static electricity is still present, spray a little water on the dryer balls before placing them in the dryer drum. This increases the humidity in the dryer drum and removes any remaining static electricity.
