How to use | Laundry bag set

Some garments are better not put in the washing machine, for example because the fabric is very delicate or pills easily. Delicate fabrics such as silk, lace and garments with embroidery are vulnerable in the washing machine. During washing, garments undergo a lot of movement and friction as the drum spins and shakes, which can lead to wear, deformation or even damage.

By washing your clothes in a  laundry bag , you create a protective barrier. This reduces the impact of friction, prevents fabrics from coming into contact with zippers or hooks, and helps colours stay vibrant for longer. A simple solution to keep your favourite garments looking beautiful for longer!

Choose the right laundry bag size

Use a laundry bag that is large enough for the garments to move around freely inside it. An overfilled bag can prevent clothes from being cleaned properly. Ideally, you should have several sizes at home: smaller ones for items such as underwear, and a larger laundry bag for sweaters, etc.

Choose from the following (common) laundry bag sizes:
- 25 x 30 (S)
- 30 x 40 cm (M)
- 40 x 50 cm (L)
- 60 x 60 cm (XL) 

In our experience, an S is too small, while M and L are ideal. Size XL is mainly intended for items such as bed linen.

Choose laundry bags with a 'hidden' zipper

When choosing a laundry bag, always pay attention to the zipper on the laundry bag. Preferably choose a laundry bag with a ‘hidden zipper’ (a concealed zipper), so that the zipper does not rub against and damage other garments. This often distinguishes high-quality laundry bags from lower-quality alternatives. Sort your garments

Put delicate fabrics such as lingerie, bras, silk, sportswear and lace garments in a laundry bag. Garments with zippers, buttons or hooks are also better placed in a bag to prevent damage to other clothes.

Make sure you close the laundry bag properly

Make sure the bag is properly closed to prevent clothes from falling out during washing. A sturdy closure, such as a zipper with a protective edge, is ideal.

Choose the right wash cycle

Use a gentle wash cycle with a low temperature and low spin speed to minimise wear. This not only helps keep clothes looking beautiful for longer, but also saves energy.

Laundry bags in the dryer

Some laundry bags are not designed for use in the dryer, but STEAMRS laundry bags are. For extra protection, you can therefore use the laundry bags in the dryer with peace of mind. This prevents delicate fabrics from being exposed to too much heat and movement, reducing shrinkage and deformation.

These items are best washed in a laundry bag

For delicate materials and fragile items, we recommend using a laundry net or laundry bag. Think of fabrics such as silk, wool, satin and lace. We also recommend washing the following garments or items in a laundry net or laundry bag:

1. • items with embroidery;
   • clothing with sequins;
   • underwire bras;
   • sports bras with hooks;
   • lingerie;
   • and socks.

No more stray socks in the laundry

A laundry bag is ideal and very convenient for small garments such as socks. Sometimes it seems as though socks have simply disappeared when you hang up the clean laundry: you really did put an even number in the washing machine, didn't you? If you put your socks in a laundry bag, you can be sure they will not get lost, and you will no longer be left with incomplete pairs.

Although both a laundry bag and a laundry net are used to protect your clothes, there is a small difference between the two. A laundry net has an open mesh structure, while a laundry bag can be closed with a zipper and therefore offers even more protection.
